KATHMANDU, APR 15 The Goverment on sunday appovered the Terms of reference (ToR) for army integration prepared by the special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist combatants.
The Cabinetr decision is in line with the seven-Point agreement to kick-start the integration process endorsed by the special Committee.
Finance Minister Barsh Man Pun informed theat the cabinet meeting, held in singhdurbar this morning approved the Armya integration terms of reference 2012 , Nepal;s peace process has been moving forward on the basis of various agreements betweeen the political parthies signed on various occasion and the decision made by the special committee. he said The government have now approved its [integration process] Terms of referencr/
The ToR deals with the disputes among major parties on technical issues such as formation of the general directorate, determation of ranks, period of training and machanism to select combatants to serve in the Nepal Army.
Now, the selection process as well as formation of the general directorate would soon begin after the approval of ToR, he inforned. There has already been agreement to form four directorates under the general-directorate, and to form selection committee comprising three officers appointed by Chairman of public service Commission.
"It would not wrong to say that all the doors have now been opened the goverment's site for the integration process", said Minister Pun, talking to reporters after the metting.
The Cabinet has decided that government would focus on the constitution writing process as the peace process has almost reached to its conclusion. "Constitutation drafting is the major agenda of the government." said minister Pun, "The cabinet has appealed to the political parties, organisation and civil society to cooperate in the consitution making process."
The Cabinet meeting also called on the political parties their sisters-organizations and civil society to not to organise general strikes as the government is trying to creat conducive environment for constitution writing.
